Cambodia’s Vaccination Experience Being Shared to Other ASEAN Countries

Phnom Penh: The World Health Organization has once again congratulated Cambodia for its vaccination success against Covid-19. This was following the report from ASEAN Magazine featuring Cambodia represented by the Spokeswoman of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Or Vandine. The kingdom’s swift vaccination to its people – both locals and foreign nationals, being one with the highest vaccination rates among ASEAN member states.

WHO Representative to Cambodia, Dr. Li Ailan says, “Congratulations to Cambodia for such historic efforts and achievements in Covid-19 vaccine roll-out. Very pleased that Cambodia’s experience is being shared. Some key lessons are being applied to inform and advance future immunization program and system.”

Vandine says that with the vaccination success in the kingdom, hopefully people will be able to get out from “Covid-19 box” as soon as possible. However, the “3 do’s and 3 don’ts” practices should be followed correctly and regularly for the people’s daily lives. She says, “Learning by doing with carefully exercising necessary preventive measures allows us to return to new normal with safe opening businesses.”

The Royal Government of Cambodia has already vaccinated 84.18% of the total population of 16 million as of Thursday. For the target population of 10 million adults, the kingdom has already reached 99.16%. Over 9.9 million people have at least received their first dose while more than 9.5 million are fully vaccinated. For younger group aged 12 to 17, the country has already vaccinated 89.72% of the 1.9 million population target while 94.23% vaccination rate for children ages from 6 to 11.
